Key Role: Carbon Market Strategy Lead

This is a high-profile role within the Qantas Group Sustainability team focused on driving the delivery and ongoing development of the company's carbon markets strategy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building and managing a pipeline of strategic investment opportunities into new carbon projects for the Qantas Climate Fund to meet the Group's long-term net emissions targets.

  • Develop strategies for voluntary and legislated carbon market requirements, including Safeguard Mechanism, CORSIA, and customer-facing programs.
  • Collaborate across the business to align with Qantas' Climate Action Plan, Nature Strategy, and Integrity Framework.
  • Represent Qantas in industry forums, driving thought leadership in carbon markets and sustainability.
Your Expertise
  • A strong background in investment, strategy or analytical roles – ideally in carbon markets, strategy consulting, venture capital, corporate finance, funds management, renewable energy, utilities, or infrastructure advisory.
  • Commercial acumen, financial analysis, and investment evaluation skills are essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of carbon markets, carbon projects and credits, and their regulatory environment.
  • The ability to communicate complex technical and market concepts to senior stakeholders effectively.
