Operational Excellence Leader

This is a hands-on leadership role with the scope to drive both immediate operational performance and long-term strategic asset planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance trades and technicians by fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Develop and implement effective response strategies to minimize production disruption caused by breakdowns.
  • Build and sustain a proactive and predictive maintenance strategy that aligns with organizational priorities.
  • Manage and optimize CMMS systems, maintenance schedules, and asset lifecycle data to ensure seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align priorities, plan proactively, and drive business growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement across equipment, systems, and maintenance processes through structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Manage contractor engagement, performance, and compliance in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Ensure a strong safety culture and full adherence to WHS, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to capital investment planning and long-term reliability strategy development.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar maintenance leadership role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Background in industrial sectors such as plastics, polymers, packaging, or FMCG manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of CMMS systems and asset management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage performance, and build accountability.
  • Sound technical problem-solving ability with a sense of urgency and practical execution.
  • Strong communication skills — capable of influencing at both shop floor and leadership levels.
  • Experience managing contractors and ensuring safety compliance across plant operations.
  • Exposure to plastic extrusion or injection moulding is highly regarded.
