Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Learning Specialist to join our team at Lalor East Primary School. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading Disability Inclusion processes within the school, working closely with classroom teachers to ensure that students with additional needs receive the support they require.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of Disability Inclusion strategies and policies within the school.
  • Provide professional learning and support to teachers to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to effectively support students with additional needs.
  • Collaborate with the student wellbeing team to develop and implement strategies to support students with disability to develop positive social skills, body safety, and resilience.
  • Work with the school's Student Support Services key contact and Regional Disability Co-ordinator to ensure that Disability Inclusion processes are aligned with school and departmental priorities.
  • Support the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disability, ensuring that student and parent voice is incorporated into the planning process.
  • Contribute to the school's Leadership team to support the implementation of the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) and School Strategic Plan (SSP).
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Expert knowledge of Disability Inclusion principles and practices.
  • Experience in leading and implementing Disability Inclusion strategies and policies within a school setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, parents, and the broader school community.
  • Ability to model and promote a culture of inclusivity and respect within the school.
