This is a 12-month non-ongoing contract opportunity for a skilled legal professional to join our team at Hudson Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across government, industry, and civil society to develop policy and legislative proposals.
  • Work with the Office of Parliamentary Counsel to draft legislative reforms and advise on the application of Australian sanctions laws.
  • Develop and implement project plans, working in a context of tight timelines and dynamic priorities.
  • Draft clear and persuasive advice and policy documents, including briefs for Ministers.
  • Manage regulatory and compliance processes in line with best practice.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff.
Requirements
  • Excellent technical legal skills, particularly in statutory interpretation and legislative development.
  • Ability to work well in a busy environment, think creatively, and deliver client-focused legal solutions.
  • Capability to develop deep expertise in the sanctions regulatory framework.
  • Experience in providing legal advice, drafting legal documents, and drafting legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain complex relationships with key stakeholders.
