Are you a high school student looking to kickstart your career in the energy industry? Look no further Our Pre-Apprenticeship Program in Electrical Trades is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in this exciting field.

Program Overview

This program includes a combination of online workshops, on-campus practical days, and in-community depot work experience placements. You will learn essential work, health, and safety requirements, primary technical skills for the electricity distribution and energy services sector, and real-world site experience at Ergon Energy Network and Energex depots throughout regional and remote Queensland.

  • Enterprise skills through Toolbox Talks and project handovers
Eligibility

To be eligible for this program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a current Queensland high school student
  • Be a Queensland resident
  • Have successfully completed a General Construction Induction Training card (White Card) within the first 4 weeks of the commencement of this course
  • Successfully complete online aptitude testing, including the BKSB with a working level 3 for English and Math
  • Be available to travel to local depot and perform work experience during the prescribed time periods
  • Receive permission from caregiver and school to participate

  • A toolkit
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Boots, shirt, gloves, safety glasses
  • Travel costs including accommodation and meals (where required)
  • Work experience at the closest Ergon Energy Network and Energex depot
