Electrotechnology Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Embark on a rewarding journey in Queensland's energy sector with our Pre-Apprenticeship Program. This initiative is designed for current Year 11 and 12 students, offering the chance to complete a Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start).
What You Will Gain- Acquire essential knowledge of workplace health and safety tailored to the electrical sector.
- Develop fundamental technical abilities relevant to electricity distribution and energy services, including the proficient use of tools and materials, as well as interpreting site plans.
- Experience hands-on training at various depots across regional and remote Queensland.
- Enhance your enterprise skills through engaging in Toolbox Talks and executing formal project handovers.
This program features a blend of weekly online workshops led by industry-expert educators from TAFE Queensland, complemented by practical on-campus sessions and community-based work experience placements. Participants will not only complete the Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) but will also undertake:
- A General Safety Induction course (White Card), which is mandatory for working on construction sites in Queensland.
- Essential training in performing rescues from live low voltage panels and CPR accredited skillset.
Successful candidates will receive:
- A toolkit to support your learning and development.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including boots, shirts, gloves, and safety glasses.
- Coverage for travel expenses, including accommodation and meals when necessary.
- Work experience at a local depot.
To be considered for this program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Queensland High School.
- Resident of Queensland.
- Assessment by the school, TAFE Queensland, and Ergon Energy Network to ensure suitability for participation.
- Completion of a General Construction Induction Training card (White Card) within the first month of the program.
- Successful completion of online aptitude testing with a minimum working level of 3 in English and Math.
- Availability for travel to local depots for work experience.
- Permission from a caregiver and school to participate.
