Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flight Test Engineer to join our team at LTA Research. As a key member of our flight test program, you will be responsible for developing and executing flight test campaigns, working closely with our engineering and operations teams to ensure the safe and efficient execution of flight tests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Flight Test Planning and Execution: Develop and execute flight test plans, write test cards, conduct flight readiness reviews, and review hazard assessments.
  • Test Instrumentation and Data Analysis: Design and execute test instrumentation systems for ground and/or flight testing, and perform data analysis using MATLAB, Python, or other scripting tools.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with engineers, flight test pilots, and the operations team to develop flight test plans and write flight test cards, and lead daily flight test coordination and communication.
  • System Knowledge and Development: Acquire comprehensive knowledge of the airship's systems, and contribute to the development of the AFM and other documents by collaborating with multiple teams to provide pertinent information.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Mentor and scope tasks across teams in order to streamline the engineering and flight test programs, and maintain a company-wide safety culture and development of CRM and emergency procedures trainings.
Requirements
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in flight testing in a prototyping or agile operational environment.
  • Education: Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable engineering field.
  • Skills: Proficiency in developing manuals and other documentation, proficiency in data analysis with MATLAB, Python, or other scripting tools, and a strong safety culture.
  • Preferred Skills: Private pilot or higher rating, experience with first flight efforts of experimental aircraft, expertise in aerodynamics, aircraft performance, and/or digital flight controls, and proficiency in human factors cockpit/display engineering.
