Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in contributing to a customer-focused pathology collection service across inpatient, outpatient and home care settings.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to all referrers and consumers. This will include performing venepuncture and other related duties such as specimen collection, data entry, processing and delivery to sites for pathology investigations as required.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the provision of a high-quality pathology collection service
  • Perform venepuncture and other related duties including specimen collection, data entry, processing and delivery to sites for pathology investigations as required
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, carers and clinical staff
  • Work effectively in a demanding professional team environment with competing priorities and strict deadlines
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Certificate III in Pathology Collections or previous experience in venepuncture or demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the clinical environment relevant to the Department
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers and clinical staff
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve general issues within the clinical environment
  • Familiarity with pathology terminology and requirements and the willingness to learn a broad scope of collection, data entry and specimen preparation practices
  • Unencumbered Class C Driver's License (valid in NSW) or the capacity to travel to any site for a shift as required
