Virgin Australia is seeking a dedicated People Safety Specialist to join our Safety Systems and Operational Support team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in driving People Safety continuous improvement initiatives across Work Health Safety, Workers Compensation, and Workplace Wellbeing.

About the Role

The ideal candidate for this position will possess experience in WHS and Workplace Wellbeing related functions. You will work closely with our WHS Business Partners and Manager People Safety to support the Virgin Australia Work Health and Safety (WHS) Management System and Workplace Wellbeing program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, identify, and analyse legislative WHS or other specified requirements, emerging WHS issues, and best practice to assess and identify opportunities or impact for Virgin Australia systems and processes.
  • Act as a sounding board and key partner of frontline Leaders and teams in engaging with and driving cultural change through the business.
  • Design and deliver effective communication strategies and processes that will engage and influence the business in driving Work Health Safety and Workplace Wellbeing continuous improvement strategies.
  • Provide analysis, reporting, and insights to support effective decision making and compliance outcomes.
  • Provision of reports and documentation for internal and external reporting requirements for Safety Risk Review Committee Meetings.
  • Support the ongoing development of the WHS Management System.
  • Support Workplace Wellbeing activities.
  • Support the Business Partners with WHS Investigations.
  • Maintain oversight of injury and Incident Reporting ensuring accuracy.
  • Lead and support People Safety projects as allocated by the Manager, People Safety.
  • Using specialised practical procedures, knowledge, techniques, and learned skills to support the People Safety assurance activities.
  • Oversee non-conformances and findings from assurance activities partnering with divisions.

Requirements

  • Tertiary Qualification in WHS or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Work Health Safety and/or Workplace Wellbeing within Aviation, resource, or energy sectors.
  • 2 years experience implementing systems and risk management programs within industry.
  • High levels of experience analysing and reporting to multiple stakeholders on safety performance metrics and trends.
  • Knowledge of State and Territory WHS legislative requirements.
  • Experience in the rollout of people safety programs and initiatives across WHS and Workplace Wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated ability in interpretation of legislative or other specified requirements to produce practical operational solutions.
  • Proficient in MS office suite of programmes and advanced user of Intelex and Power Bi.
