About this Role
We are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to assist in implementing and continuously improving health, safety, and environmental systems across allocated sites.
This role ensures ongoing compliance with applicable workplace health, safety, environmental and psychosocial legislation, as well as company policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Support the implementation and maintenance of the HSE Management System in line with ISO 45001 and relevant WHS, environmental, and psychosocial safety legislation.
- Conduct risk assessments, maintain hazard registers, and track action close-out.
- Monitor site compliance through inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Assist with emergency preparedness, plant and equipment safety, and coordination of environmental and radiation safety monitoring.
- Maintain accurate safety records and reports.
- Contribute to wellbeing programs and awareness initiatives.
- Coordinate inductions, return to work processes, and contractor compliance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, compliance codes, safe work practices, including psychosocial safety legislation.
- Understanding of psychosocial hazard management, including stress, fatigue, bullying, workload demands.
- Familiarity with GMP principles, especially irradiation sterilisation processes (desirable). Experience in pharma, biosecurity packaging, or similar is advantageous.
- Proven experience in incident reporting, risk, and safety management within manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work within ISO frameworks, including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and ISO 45003.
- Competence in developing and delivering effective training programs on physical safety, psychosocial wellbeing, and environmental compliance.
Qualifications & Education
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety / Diploma of Work Health and Safety.
- Proven work experience in a HSE role.
- Driver's licence.
Preferred qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health Safety or related discipline.
- First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Cert IV in Training & Workplace Assessment.
- Work experience in sterilisation, warehousing, medical GMP packing environments, and/or medical devices or general health care manufacturing.
