**Job Opportunity: Environmental Risk Manager**

This role offers a chance to make a positive impact on the environment and contribute to sustainable development in the Pacific region.

The successful candidate will work with various stakeholders, including governments, civil society organizations, and private sector entities, to support the implementation of environmental policies and practices that promote social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical guidance and support to clients and project teams on environmental risk management and occupational health and safety.
  • Developing and implementing effective environmental management plans and strategies.
  • Conducting environmental assessments and monitoring projects to mitigate and monitor environmental impacts.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and working independently with limited supervision.

**Requirements:**

Advanced degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or related field.

Minimum 5 years of full-time relevant professional experience in environmental risk management.

Knowledge and experience in environmental assessment and management of investment projects involving civil works, extractive, or industrial activities.

Field experience in assessing project site vulnerabilities/risks and supervising/inspecting/monitoring projects with significant environmental dimensions and/or risks during implementation.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to travel extensively in the Pacific and Papua New Guinea and possibly to other countries if necessary.

Familiarity with WBG's safeguards policies and ESF requirements is advantageous.
