Job Overview

A pivotal role in our Forensic & Analytical Science Service, we seek a Senior Scientific Officer to contribute to our dynamic team of scientific professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Apply advanced scientific expertise and experience in the field of Forensic Biology and DNA Analysis to provide expert certificates with varying levels of complexity.
  • Ensure the accurate, quality, timely and customer-focused provision of tests and reports in a NATA accredited Unit.
Key Requirements
  • A Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science or Applied Science with a major relevant to the Forensic Biology/DNA Unit, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Demonstrated experience or extensive knowledge in methods, instrumentation and emerging technologies relevant to the field of Forensic Biology, gained in an accredited laboratory or relevant environment.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the interpretation and reporting of complex forensic DNA results in an accredited forensic laboratory.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and prioritise workflow effectively to ensure unit objectives and performance targets are met within specified timeframes while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to give lectures/presentations to appropriate parties, provide evidence in courts and build strong stakeholder relationships.
