Job Description

The role of Technical Services Manager is pivotal in driving the success of an underground mining operation. This individual will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and technical expertise across various functions, including mine planning, geology, survey, ventilation, and other technical disciplines.

Key to this role is ensuring technical excellence, driving innovation, and supporting safe, efficient, and sustainable mining practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of technical professionals, encompassing mining engineers, geologists, surveyors, and ventilation officers.
  • Oversee the preparation of mine plans, schedules, and designs to achieve production and business objectives.
  • Provide expert technical input into life-of-mine planning and operational decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, safety standards, and organizational policies.
  • Foster collaboration between operations, maintenance, and technical teams to optimize performance.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, and cost management.
Requirements
  • A collaborative leader with a strong technical background in underground mining.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in underground hard rock mining (preferably base metals).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing technical services teams.
  • Strong knowledge of mine planning, design, and scheduling.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
