Job Title

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our kitchen team. You will be responsible for preparing meals and maintaining a safe, clean and tidy kitchen environment.

">Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes with precision and creativity;
  • Clean and maintain kitchen area, equipment, appliances, utensils and fixtures in accordance with standard cleaning and infection control processes;
  • Undertake basic record keeping of key kitchen and stock data;
  • Liaise with the supervisor and/or suppliers in relation to stock ordering and control;
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations;
  • Contribute ideas for menu development and special events.
Requirements

You will have a comprehensive understanding of legislation relevant to the industry, knowledge of safe food hygiene practices, and highly developed prioritisation and time management skills. You will enjoy working with the elderly and have empathy to their needs.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial food preparation, cooking processes, food hygiene control and cleaning chemicals used in a kitchen;
  • Minimum one-year experience as a commercial cook, working in a hygiene-controlled environment;
  • Experience working within the Aged Care industry will be highly regarded;
  • Solid understanding of food safety legislation, texture modification and special needs diets.
