About the Role

Fuse Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Communications Specialist to join a government department in this critical role. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication projects that foster collaboration and ensure alignment with biosecurity goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead stakeholder engagement, communication, and education projects from conception to evaluation.
  • Conduct multi-audience stakeholder analytics and audience segmentation research to inform strategic planning and evaluation.
  • Create high-quality communication materials, including website content, newsletters, magazine articles, and fact sheets, in alignment with organizational standards.
  • Apply proven engagement and communication models to address a wide range of activities, including crisis management and public education.
  • Monitor trends in community, industry forums, social media, and news media, providing timely advice and strategies for emerging issues.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement activities, negotiating and communicating with designated groups within departmental guidelines.
  • Contribute to team planning and the evaluation of policies, procedures, and systems to enhance stakeholder engagement practices.
  • Support emergency response operations and acquire a sound knowledge of Queensland's disaster management arrangements and biosecurity frameworks.

  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and communication strategy development.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to evaluate and apply audience insights effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to produce diverse content for various platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, Queensland's disaster management arrangements and national biosecurity frameworks.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a passion for building resilient communities and systems.
What We Offer

The estimated salary for this role is around $85,000 - $115,000 per annum, depending on experience. Fuse Recruitment offers a dynamic work environment and opportunities for professional growth and development.
