Field Training Officer

The Australian Antarctic Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Training Officer to lead and deliver field training programs in Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic region.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and deliver field training programs for Antarctic and sub-Antarctic expeditions
- Lead and support groups working in the field, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Coordinate field safety and develop station search and rescue capabilities
- Collaborate with the Australian Antarctic Program to achieve its vision of ensuring Antarctica is valued, protected, and understood
- Current Wilderness First Aid qualification or equivalent
- Single pitch climbing instructor's qualification and/or multi-pitch climbing guide qualification, or equivalent
- Valid passport with at least 6 months' validity beyond the planned end date of the intended stay in Antarctica or the sub-Antarctic
- Current statement of attainment in Provide First Aid (HLTAID0011) and Provide CPR (HLTAID009)
- Significant experience in outdoor guiding/leading with either young people or adults in remote wilderness settings
- Relevant qualification in Outdoor Education, such as a Certificate IV in Outdoor Education, a Diploma of Outdoor Education, or a Bachelor of Education (Outdoor Education)
- Annual base salary starts from $85,876 per annum when in Australia
- Base salary + additional allowances starts from $151,217 per annum when in Antarctica
- Generous employer superannuation contribution of up to 15.4% will be paid in addition to salary and allowances
- Accrue recreation leave at the equivalent of 20 days per annum pro rata
- Australian citizenship
- Ability to work in a small team and be resilient in an isolated environment
