Community Education Specialist

Gympie State High School and One Mile State School are seeking a dedicated Community Education Specialist to support the educational success of First Nations students and their families.

This role focuses on providing high-quality support services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, students, families, and communities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive support services to ensure the best possible outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, students, families, and communities.
  • Monitor student attendance and retention through data analysis, phone calls home, home visits, and regular check-ins.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Assist students in overcoming barriers to school engagement.
  • Participate in enrolment, re-entry, and exclusion meetings as needed.
  • Develop and implement engaging lunch-time activities to enhance student wellbeing.
  • Establish and maintain connections with external sources of information and support services.
  • Share knowledge about Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander social and cultural perspectives with the school community.
