About the Project

John Holland is partnering with McConnell Dowell on the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland. This innovative project involves converting a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility, using two existing mine pits as reservoirs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensure contractor commissioning plans align with client requirements.
  2. Verify contractor commissioning Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and checklists adhere to client standards.
  3. Ensure operational documents comply with client specifications.
  4. Gather, review, and distribute feedback on contractor draft commissioning plans.
  5. Approve the final contractor commissioning plan.
  6. Endorse contractor commissioning ITPs and checklists.
  7. Review and provide commentary on O&M manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and User Procedure Guides (UPGs).
  8. Attend and contribute to Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), and defect inspections.
  9. Participate in Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPS), Constructability Hazard Identification and Risk Evaluation (CHAIR), and design reviews as required.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree.
  • At least 5 years of commissioning experience.
  • Extensive expertise in commissioning, proving, and demonstrating wastewater/water treatment facilities, pump stations, and pipelines.
  • Documented success in project delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare comprehensive commissioning reports and supporting documents.
  • Experience in managing operating procedures, maintenance schedules, and operation and maintenance manuals.
