Australian Biosecurity Experts Wanted

The Australian Department of the Environment is seeking a Biosecurity Specialist to fill this critical role.
This position involves performing various screening, inspection and assurance activities associated with international aircraft, air and sea passengers, crew and international mail.
Key duties include:
- Screening and inspecting international mail and cargo for biosecurity risks.
- Assessing documentation to confirm compliance with Australia's biosecurity requirements.
- Managing non-compliant goods and capturing information to support informed decision-making.
- Providing expert advice on biosecurity matters to stakeholders and senior managers.
- Identifying trends in biosecurity risks and escalating them to inform risk-based activities.
**Training:** Applicants must complete the department's Biosecurity Foundation Program to be eligible for appointment as a Biosecurity Officer under the Biosecurity Act 2015.
The training will involve a comprehensive course at the Biosecurity Training Centre located in Wagga Wagga, NSW. The program will cover all aspects of biosecurity and provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in this role.
