Job Title: Remote Midwifery Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to join a locum-based program dedicated to strengthening healthcare services in remote communities across the Northern Territory.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Midwife / RN to provide treatment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in remote NT communities. This role offers short-term placements where you will work on-site in remote clinics, delivering culturally safe, high-quality care in collaboration with Aboriginal Health Practitioners, General Practitioners, nurses, and support staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality, culturally safe midwifery care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in remote NT communities.
  • Work collaboratively with Aboriginal Health Practitioners, General Practitioners, nurses, and support staff to deliver comprehensive healthcare services.
  • Participate in cultural orientation and 24/7 support to ensure a smooth transition into remote healthcare.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities, including free CPD-accredited eLearning with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Evidence of unrestricted registration as a registered nurse and registered midwife with AHPRA.
  • Minimum of 3 years of postgraduate experience in midwifery.
  • Minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience as a registered nurse.
  • Minimum of 250 hours of relevant clinical experience within the past 12 months.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Current recognised immunisation certificate.
  • Current Northern Territory Working with Children's Card (or willing to obtain).
