Senior Medical Officer - Remote Healthcare Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced medical professional to lead the clinical operations of a remote community healthcare facility in Papua New Guinea.

This leadership role involves direct patient care, medical oversight, coordination of referrals and evacuations, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare aligned with global and local health frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent Medical Services to external stakeholders and community members.
  • Provide Clinical and Strategic leadership to the Medical Services team to ensure compliance with evidence-based guidelines and standards.
  • Undertake clinical responsibilities in the hospital by being actively involved in patient care and consultation.
  • Coordinate Medical Emergencies, Referrals and Evacuations according to Standard Operating procedures.
  • Provide written reports and returns as required.
Essential Criteria
  • Medical degree and current, unrestricted license to practise.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in trauma/emergency, occupational health and family medicine.
  • Leadership experience in a medical setting, including remote or resource-limited environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and provide clinical guidance in complex cases.
Desirable Criteria
  • Previous or current PNG Medical Board Registration.
  • Experience in obstetrics, tropical medicine, aeromedical evacuations or anaesthetics.
