
Digital Platform Strategist

The role of Product Owner is pivotal in leading the development, support and continuous improvement of digital platforms.
These platforms are essential for community football operations, supporting registration, officiating, administration and resource management nationwide. This position is responsible for managing vendor relationships, gathering user requirements, overseeing platform enhancements and ensuring optimal user engagement and training.
- Manage vendor relationships with third-party vendors or SaaS platforms.
- Gather and translate user requirements from stakeholders including coaches, volunteers, umpires and participants.
- Oversight of platform enhancements aligned with strategic priorities.
- Ensure optimal user engagement and training through clear change management plans and targeted communications.
- Product Ownership & Strategy
- Contribute to driving the vision and roadmap for digital platforms.
- Align platform capabilities with game development team goals.
- Own and refine the product backlog to ensure it is well-prioritised, clearly defined and aligned with strategic goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as primary liaison for stakeholders on platform operations and support, including issue escalation beyond first-line customer service.
- Collaborate across stakeholders to gather and prioritise user requirements.
- Vendor Collaboration & Relationship Management
- Collaborate with leaders to manage vendor relationships, ensuring delivery of fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Translate business and user requirements into clear specifications.
- Participate in planning, testing and reviews with vendors.
- Benchmark other platforms and recommend relevant innovations.
- Project Management
- Lead large-scale platform change initiatives.
- Define project scope, timelines, milestones and deliverables.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage risks and dependencies.
- Communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Training & Adoption
- Develop and deliver training programs and resources for staff, volunteers and umpire coordinators.
- Drive adoption of new product features by developing clear change management plans and delivering targeted communications.
- Support & Governance
- Provide central support for employees and leagues, guiding users and stakeholders to ensure platform functionality aligns with their needs.
- Monitor platform performance, user adoption and satisfaction.
- Maintain documentation, user guides, risk registers and support materials.
- Data & Reporting
- Report on platform usage, adoption and impact.
- Collaborate with data analysts and use BI tools to extract insights.
- Use data to inform platform improvements and engagement strategies.
- Innovation & Continuous Learning
- Lead pilot programs and trials of new technologies.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
