Job Overview:

The Health and Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and respectful work environment, encompassing health, safety, and wellbeing strategies, as well as injury case management and return-to-work coordination.

This position leads a function of strategic importance and directly contributes to agency-wide planning and operations.

The Health and Safety Manager manages complex risks associated with operational areas and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure the safety of personnel, contractors, and visitors across various sites.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of modern policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines to meet compliance requirements and align with current workers' compensation, injury management, and health and safety legislation and standards.
  • Lead the design, implementation, maintenance, and development of a contemporary health and safety digital operational management system.
  • Cultivate a mature health and safety culture underpinned by care for oneself and others and personal and collective responsibility and accountability.

Essential Requirements:

  • A valid Working with Vulnerable People registration or ability to obtain it without restrictions.
  • A Workplace 2 First Aid Certificate or willingness and ability to obtain it.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Certificate IV WHS or higher educational certification or equivalent expertise/experience/qualifications.
  • Membership of Australian Institute of Health and Safety and/or Australian Institute of Occupational Hygiene (valuable but non-essential).
  • ICAN lead investigator qualification and/or Lead auditor qualification (valuable but non-essential).
  • Experience working in the construction and/or food and beverage sectors (valuable but non-essential).
