Position Overview:

Are you a skilled and experienced technologist seeking a challenging role in supplier development? Do you have a passion for process improvement, innovation, and delivering exceptional results?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team as a Senior Methods Engineering Technologist - Supplier Development. As a key member of our supply chain team, you will be responsible for driving technical and planning support to suppliers to ensure seamless production and delivery of components and materials to our product lines.

As a Senior Methods Engineering Technologist - Supplier Development, your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with internal teams to revise engineering masters, work instructions, and statement of work packages to define parts, processes, and special instructions required to purchase or build a part/assembly.

You will also visit external suppliers to audit their processes, recommend alternatives, report back to the company on progress, status, risks, etc.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Support: Collaborate with internal teams to revise engineering masters, work instructions, and statement of work packages to define parts, processes, and special instructions required to purchase or build a part/assembly.
  • Process Improvement: Visit external suppliers to audit their processes, recommend alternatives, report back to the company on progress, status, risks, etc.
  • Supplier Performance: Partner with internal teams, including procurement, quality, and engineering, to align supplier performance with company goals.
  • Manufacturing Expertise: Provide technical expertise to suppliers to enhance their capabilities and resolve manufacturing challenges on new and existing builds.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and implement supplier performance metrics, tracking adherence to cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
  • Supplier Engagement: Assist suppliers in developing plans to increase efficiency.
  • Engineering Changes: Record and submit engineering change requests for changes to build, design, and tooling required to improve efficiency and quality of builds, including make vs buy decisions.
  • Supplier Implementation: Assist in implementing engineering changes into supplier-made parts/assemblies.
  • Problem Investigation: Assist in investigating the root cause of manufacturing problems and liaise with other functions to analyze potential solutions by evaluating cost, impacts, and risks of a change in production.
  • Qualification: Support the qualification of manufacturing processes and tooling within the supplier facility.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including internal/external audits.
  • Training and Development: Assist with training of production, QC, methods engineering, and co-op personnel.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive hands-on experience in a large detail part and/or assembly manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Education: Combination of education and experience in aerospace and/or manufacturing will be considered.
  • Degree: Degree or diploma in engineering or engineering technology; or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience (e.g. aircraft maintenance engineer, assembler, etc.).
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing engineering, planning, or methods role.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of the fabrication and assembly of aircraft parts, structures, and systems.
  • Customer Focus: Strong customer focus and good communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Aerospace Engineering: Knowledge of aerospace engineering and manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Sound Judgment: Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and process design issues.
  • Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and interpret aircraft engineering drawings.
  • Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge in MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with computer-aided design software such as CATIA, Enovia, AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage and act on multiple projects and priorities at one time.
  • Decision Making: Innovative thinker and ability to use solid judgment during the decision-making process.
  • International Travel: Must possess and maintain a valid passport and be willing/able to travel both domestic and internationally when required.
