Leading Tribunal Member for the ACT Government

The ACT Government invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals to fill the role of Presidential Member of the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Job DescriptionThis prestigious appointment will see the successful candidate join the ACAT as a key decision-maker, responsible for hearing and determining matters within the jurisdiction of the tribunal. As a leading figure in the legal community, you will exercise a range of functions given under Territory laws and play a vital role in upholding justice in the ACT.
With a strong background in law, preferably with at least 5 years of experience as a legal practitioner, you will be well-equipped to handle the demands of this challenging position. Your expertise will be utilised to mediate disputes, conduct conferences, and make informed decisions that impact the lives of individuals and communities across the ACT.
We are seeking an individual who is not only legally sound but also possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. As a member of the ACAT, you will work closely with other tribunal members, stakeholders, and government agencies to ensure the effective administration of justice.
The successful candidate will be appointed to the ACAT for a term of 7 years, providing an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the judicial landscape of the ACT.

About the RoleAs a Presidential Member of the ACAT, you can expect:

We estimate the salary for this role to be around $250,000 - $300,000 per annum, based on industry standards and comparable roles within the public sector.
