We are seeking a skilled Surgical Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical assessment, management, and consultation to patients with conditions applicable to General Surgery.
About the Role
- Provide clinical services within the scope of practice as granted by the Medical Advisory Committee and approved by the Board.
- Liaise and work effectively with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders involved in patient care.
- Perform ward rounds independently or with others as required for inpatient care at Macquarie University Hospital.
- In consultation with the admitting doctor, ensure appropriate arrangements are made for patients on discharge from Macquarie University Hospital to maximise continuity of care and good health outcomes.
- Participate in clinical quality activities, including peer review, audits, and root cause analysis.
- Present at and represent Macquarie University Hospital at relevant internal and external conferences and similar sessions.
- Complete and provide evidence of Continuing Medical Education and Development.
Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent qualification and general registration as a medical practitioner in Australia and current registration as a medical practitioner in Australia.
- Documented experience in General surgery and knowledge of and commitment to continuous improvement, evidence-based practice, and promoting a culture of safety, quality, innovation, and best practice in clinical practice, teaching, and research.
- Demonstrated understanding of the patients' perspective and ability to communicate key information to the patient and carers.
- A strong commitment to multidisciplinary approaches to clinical care and ability to work as part of a team.
