Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Fire Mitigation Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of fuel reduction activities, including fuel reduction burning and other activities related to bushfire risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the planning and execution of fuel reduction activities, including fuel reduction burning and other activities related to bushfire risk mitigation.
Collaborate with other team members to identify and prioritize areas for fuel reduction activities.
Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including landowners and community groups, to promote the importance of fuel reduction activities.
Requirements
Pre-employment checks will be conducted for all applicants. The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Such offences would include, but are not limited to:
- Arson and fire setting;
- Sexual offences;
- Dishonesty (e.g. theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud);
- Deception (e.g. obtaining an advantage by deception);
- Making false declarations;
- Violent crimes and crimes against the person;
- Malicious damage and destruction to property
- Trafficking of narcotic substance;
- False alarm raising.
Desirable Requirements
A Certificate II in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations) or the capacity to undertake Certificate II Public Safety would be highly regarded. A First Aid Certificate and a Current Full C Drivers Licence are also essential.
