Protect Children and Build a Safer Community

As a Child Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being and safety of children in our community. Your expertise and dedication will be essential in delivering high-quality services that meet the complex needs of vulnerable families.

This challenging yet rewarding role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as you will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and implement effective child protection strategies. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed records, ensuring compliance with departmental guidelines and legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver statutory child protection services, including assessment, intervention, casework, and case management, in accordance with legislation and practice guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with teams to build professional relationships with stakeholders, children, young people, and families, while fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive case records, adhering to departmental requirements and standards.
  • Participate in continuous learning and professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices and evidence-based approaches.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to new and less experienced colleagues, drawing on your expertise and experience in relevant child protection fields.

  • Develop and maintain cultural capability through self-directed learning and commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
  • Contribute to creating a culturally safe and inclusive workplace environment.
