About Our Train Operator Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced train operator to join our team. As a train conductor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and satisfaction of our passengers on board our regional trains across Victoria.

This is an autonomous role that requires a mature approach, previous success in operating in a safety and time-critical environment, and an unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent face-to-face and PA system customer service to passengers.
  • Train Preparation: Ensure trains are ready for service, from cleanliness to functionality.
  • Ticket Sales and Fare Advice: Handle ticket sales, checking tickets, and provide fare advice during train services.
  • Train Departures and Luggage Assistance: Oversee train departures and assist with luggage at stations.
  • Crisis Management: Manage coaches during planned and unplanned disruptions and events.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Report any equipment or facility issues.

You will be required to work independently and thrive under pressure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of Year 10 education or equivalent.
  • A valid Victorian Driver's License.
  • Availability for shift work and flexible hours.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within rules and compliance frameworks.
  • Friendly customer service skills.
  • Strong safety awareness.
  • Ability to complete 4-6 weeks training in Melbourne (Monday to Friday).
