Wildlife Conservation Manager Job

This role is responsible for assisting the regional wildlife manager with management of conservation programs.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Conservation program planning, including habitat restoration and species protection
  • Works programming and work standards
  • Liaison and collaboration with affected stakeholders
  • Work health and safety in the field
  • Data recording

Critical competencies for this role include:

  • Getting things done: exceptional planning and organisational skills, prioritisation and execution of tasks
  • Working with people: excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Managing teams: leadership, management, training and coordination of remote teams
  • Paperwork/compliance: maintaining records, managing data, writing reports and permit/authorisation processes
  • IT: competent use of desktop and mobile applications and hardware
  • Resourcefulness: improvising and problem-solving with limited resources
  • Living in the field: previous experience working and living in a rural area, preferably remote, and supervision of teams in geographically diverse locations
  • A passion for conservation: demonstrated passion for conservation work
  • Willingness to travel: ability and willingness to work in diverse locations

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Qualification in conservation, land management or demonstrated experience in a relevant field
  • Familiarity with GIS software and ability to produce maps and manage spatial data
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
  • Experience in delivering projects in remote locations with a broad range of stakeholders
