Bequest Strategist Role

A humanitarian organisation supports and empowers people in times of vulnerability.

The Bequest Strategist plays a key role in leading the implementation of our organisation's bequest stewardship and retention strategy, focusing on deepening relationships, increasing income, and building a sustainable pipeline of future gifts.

This role operates within a KPI-driven framework, applying a strategic lens to donor engagement, ensuring consistent, values-aligned communications and high-quality supporter experiences.

Critical to success is collaboration with Fundraising Program Managers, the Philanthropy team, and other key stakeholders to identify high-potential prospects, coordinate cultivation activities, and contribute to the overall development and success of the Bequest portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Senior Fundraising Managers to deliver the bequest program, contributing to growth and relationship strategies that drive long-term value.
  • Provide exceptional, tailored relationship management to confirmed, intending, and considering bequest supporters, delivering meaningful stewardship experiences that deepen connection and increase retention and conversion.
  • Lead and support specialist roles, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance development to ensure high-quality supporter engagement and alignment with program goals.
  • Manage the Bequest Living Pipeline, including moves management from enquiry through to confirmation, maintaining accurate and timely reporting, including weekly/monthly updates and program reforecasts.
  • Steward supporters and enquirers through their bequest journey, ensuring they feel valued, informed, and supported in their decision to include us in their will.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records in CRM systems, ensuring comprehensive documentation of all bequestor interactions and commitments.

We are seeking an experienced professional who can lead and mentor teams, develop and implement donor journeys or stewardship strategies, and provide exceptional relationship management.

Requirements
  • Substantial experience in leading or mentoring teams, setting priorities, providing guidance, and fostering a positive and high-performing team culture.
  • Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office tools and experience in working in various CRM systems.
  • Proven success in stewarding donors.
