Job Overview

The Assistant Claims Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless resolution of claims. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent customer experience, and a commitment to continuous improvement to deliver on customer claims promises.

Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively managing complex/high-value Accident and Health claims from start to finish.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to claims assessors and operations teams.
  • Developing and implementing business improvement initiatives that drive business outcomes.
  • Oversight and support for Return to Work frameworks in conjunction with stakeholders.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for escalated claims, customer concerns, and complaints.
  • Offering ongoing training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills.
  • Supporting new and ongoing projects within the team.
  • Oversight of claims float top-up processes, including audits.
  • Managing emergency assistance cases daily, including responding to routine enquiries from external providers.
  • Prior experience working with medical emergency assistance providers is essential.
About the Role

As an Assistant Claims Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a portfolio of claims and ensuring their timely resolution.
  • Working closely with claims assessors and operations teams to provide technical support and guidance.
  • Developing and implementing business improvement initiatives to drive business outcomes.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks such as FSRA, Privacy Act, and General Insurance Code of Practice (GICOP).
Key Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years' experience in General Insurance, Travel/PA Claims, or a similar line.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail, prioritization, and multi-tasking ability.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to set and meet service levels and individual KPIs.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with business leaders and establish professional relationships across the enterprise.
