At Amazon Corporate Services Pty Ltd, we're seeking a highly skilled Optical Network Development Engineer to join our team in Sydney, NSW, AUS. As an Optical Network Development Engineer working within AWS Infrastructure, you'll play a critical role in designing, deploying, operating and automating one of the world's largest and most complex networks.

About the Role

We're looking for someone with 6+ years' experience with the rollout of large DWDM networks and optical network technologies. Your expertise will help us drive scaling current DWDM designs to meet the demand of our customers, create processes that help operate and build our DWDM network, and ensure that the DWDM network adheres to defined network standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, Operate and rollout our global DWDM networks
  • Drive scaling current DWDM designs to meet the demand of our customers
  • Create processes that help operate and build our DWDM network
  • Work closely with other Networking departments on new designs
  • Ensure that the DWDM network adheres to the defined network standards
  • Review and implement changes on the DWDM network
  • Drive operational excellence projects to drive improvements in our DWDM network quality and reliability

As an ideal candidate, you should have strong written and verbal communication skills, project management and time management skills, and a successful track record of troubleshooting complex network problems. Experience in automation and delivering innovative solutions is also essential.

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years' experience with the rollout of large DWDM networks and optical network technologies
  • 3+ years' experience with optical planning and modelling tools
  • 1+ year of professional development experience with Python or similar tool for network automation scripting
