Design Engineer Position Overview

This is a dynamic and collaborative role that involves delivering high-quality design documentation and cost estimates for assigned capital works projects. As a skilled Design Engineer, you will work closely with the Asset Design team to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough site investigations to develop preliminary designs and reports that align with project objectives
  • Prepare detailed documentation for tender and construction, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Develop accurate cost estimates related to design documentation, considering project scope and budget constraints
  • Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including council members and project consultants
  • Participate in tender evaluation panels to select contractors and consultants, utilizing your technical expertise and industry knowledge
  • Engage in regular meetings and committees to stay informed about project progress and discuss any concerns or issues
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A recognized tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, as accredited by Engineers Australia
  • A valid C Class Driver's Licence (minimum Provisional P2)
  • Current WHS construction induction certification (White Card)
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working at a professional engineer level in the field of design, with a strong background in civil infrastructure survey, analysis, design, and documentation
  • Proficiency in various civil engineering software programs, including 12D, AutoCad, AutoTurn, ParkCAD, DRAINS, and HEC-RAS
  • Demonstrated expertise in extracting quantities for civil infrastructure projects and preparing REFs (Review of Environmental Factors) in accordance with the EP&A Act of 1979
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports and presentations
