We're on a mission to revolutionize the pet care industry, and we're looking for a talented Buyer to join our team at Pet Circle. As a Specialty Species Product Curator, you'll play a crucial role in curating a selection of products that meet the highest standards and resonate deeply with pet parents.

The Opportunity

You'll be responsible for researching and identifying innovative food, health products, habitat solutions, and enrichment accessories for specialty species. You'll evaluate potential suppliers and manufacturers based on quality, pricing, reliability, and ethical production standards. Your negotiation skills will be put to the test as you secure the best value and drive profitability.

What You'll Be Doing

    • Research and identify innovative products for specialty species.
    • Evaluate suppliers and manufacturers based on quality and pricing.
    • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers.
    • Monitor inventory levels and analyze sales trends.
    • Work closely with the inventory planning team to ensure timely product replenishment.
    • Use data-driven insights to identify opportunities for expanding the product range or discontinuing underperforming items.
    • Build strong partnerships with suppliers to ensure seamless communication and supply chain reliability.
    • Stay up-to-date on market trends and consumer needs.
    • Conduct competitor analysis to understand market positioning and identify opportunities.
    • Leverage market insights to guide product selection and create strategic pricing.
    • Develop category strategies that align with business goals and drive sales growth.
    • Implement plans that prioritize customer satisfaction.

The Ideal Toolbox

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a buying or merchandise role.
    • Solid understanding of the e-commerce landscape and consumer behavior.
    • Proven experience in sourcing and negotiating with suppliers.
    • Strong analytical skills to interpret sales data and make data-driven decisions.
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
    • Customer-centric mindset with a desire to develop deep understanding of pet owners' needs.

Role Location

This role is based in Sydney with a hybrid arrangement of 3 days per week in our pet-friendly offices.
