Key Role and Responsibilities

The Senior Analyst will perform prudential supervision and risk assessment across a defined group of supervised banks to achieve APRA's objective of providing a prudentially sound financial system.

  • Proactively identify issues and developments, and raise them through appropriate channels;
  • Apply a strong understanding of frameworks, standards, legislation, codes and the risks they seek to mitigate;
  • Examine the internal structure and business relationships of supervised organisations, focusing on areas that carry high risk;
  • Engage with supervised organisations to assess the quality of management, strategies, practices and systems;
  • Foster and maintain good relationships with internal stakeholders and other regulatory agencies;
  • Contribute to policy on regulation through collaborative engagement with stakeholders in APRA and from the financial sector and other government agencies.
About You
  • A strong understanding of the banking sector and prudential framework;
  • Strong financial analysis, investigative and research skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to develop solutions for complex issues;
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with key stakeholders internally and externally at all levels;
  • Strong priority management skills;
  • Good judgment and strategic awareness, and the ability to operate with significant autonomy;
  • A team player with a positive mindset and an energetic approach;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the APRA mission, objectives and functions;
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
