Coordinator Indigenous Collections

This is a key role within our team, requiring an individual with the ability to effectively manage and promote Indigenous collections and archives. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

The primary focus of this position is on ensuring the effective use of Indigenous collections and archives, which involves consulting with stakeholders and working closely with faculty and researchers.

One of the key responsibilities of this role is promoting the culturally appropriate discovery and use of Indigenous collections and archives. This requires consultation with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a high-quality experience for community members, researchers and students.

In addition to managing Indigenous collections and archives, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the wider University in meeting strategic priorities, particularly the Mankurriapinthi Strategic Plan 2024-2025.

To be successful in this role, you will need relevant knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. You will also need experience working with rare and special or archival collections, as well as a working knowledge of relevant frameworks including open access principles and indigenous cultural intellectual property (ICIP).

A commitment to advancing Indigenous Knowledges and practices across the University and wider community is essential. You will also need proven ability to proactively build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, ensuring customer needs are met.
