About the Role

The Lead Engineer – Electrical Commissioning will be responsible for producing electrical deliverables under the direction of the Commissioning Manager on the Major Project team in Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage preparation of Testing and Commissioning Plans, Sub-Plans, Testing Specifications, Procedures, and Test Documentation as required for the project.
  • Review the Testing and Commissioning Documentation from sub-contractors.
  • Ensure testing targets and objectives are met as defined in the project program.
  • Lead the planning and control of all testing requirements, resources, and test equipment.
  • Plan and organise possessions, outages, and necessary precautions required for the safe testing & commissioning of the works, in liaison with the sub-contractors, Joint Venture partners, client's representative, the Authority, and the Project/Construction Manager.
  • Maintain records of testing activity.
  • Undertake inspections of the equipment and installation standards and certify as acceptable.
  • Prepare reports at an agreed frequency.
  • Carry out management and maintenance of inspection and testing documents and schedules as referenced in the Inspection and Test Management Plan.
  • Carry out monitoring and resolution of non-conformances.
  • Ensure compliance with contract and statutory requirements.
  • Integrate and coordinate the commissioning program, in consultation with the Program & Planning staff.
  • Undertake principles of testing and auditing.
  • Ensure strict compliance with standards, procedures, and certification of all commissioning works and that records are kept in accordance with company requirements.
  • Prepare strategies, scope, and boundaries frameworks for future commissioning works, incorporating manpower, possession, training, and technical requirements and produce an accurate estimate of cost.
  • Ensure that staff resources are deployed in the most efficient manner.
  • Attend meetings related to commissioning works.
  • Prepare relevant documentation - installation and commissioning work packages.
  • Maintain an understanding and awareness of progress in the industry to recognize staff training and development needs in testing requirements consequent upon the adoption of new technology.
  • Incorporate the company's Quality and Safety strategy in all activities associated with the position.
  • Undertake any ad-hoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Commissioning Manager.
About You
  • 10 years' experience in Electrical Commissioning Engineer roles with at least 5 years' experience in Design or Project/Discipline Engineer roles.
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
  • Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, and email.
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills.
