Researcher - Back Roads

This is a 12-month maternity backfill contract for a researcher to work on an ABC flagship program.

The Role
  • Conduct research to create original content for television programmes with high production values.
  • Develop story ideas with visual creativity that resonate with local and national audiences.
  • Collaborate with experienced writer/producers as they prepare for shoots and specialist teams.
  • Fact-check programmes to meet post-production deadlines.

You may occasionally be required to travel to locations. This role focuses on researching, not producing on the road.

About You
  • Experienced in finding great visual stories and creating clear briefs.
  • Ability to contribute original ideas and complex material to engage audiences.
  • Considerable writing and editorial skills to support episode planning.
  • A great communicator with strong phone manner and record of finding fascinating outback characters.

A passion for regional and remote Australia is essential. Previous experience working on long-form factual programmes is desirable.

Requirements
  • A self-starter with excellent time management skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to balance priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
