Project Planning Lead

We are seeking a seasoned Project Planning & Controls Professional to lead our Hunter Class Frigate program at Osborne Naval Shipyard, SA.

This position is responsible for driving the effective use of our Earned Value Management (EVM) System to ensure project management teams can accurately monitor and report on project cost, schedule progress, and risk status.

The role will oversee a team of Project Controllers to perform this function at various levels – program, portfolio, or project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the activities of the project or program Project Controls team to establish the initial cost & schedule baseline.
  • Providing expert guidance in the use of cost & schedule tools (Open Plan / Primavera / Microsoft Project, and Cobra) to manage the project team's scheduling needs.
  • Overseeing the month-end EVM process of Cost Account status reporting, accruals, schedule status, and forecasting, estimate to complete data input, provision of progress and variance analysis reports.
  • Assisting the project team in performance management using the variance analysis and corrective action planning processes.
  • Providing customer-required and management-level EVM data & associated reports.
  • Presenting and discussing EVM data knowledgeably at Customer progress meetings.

Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management or equivalent (desired).
  • Proven performance at a similar level or demonstrated prior experience and progression as a Senior Project Controller.
  • Demonstrated schedule and cost experience is essential.
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder management.
  • Ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of different audiences is critical to this role.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project.
  • Current NV1 defence security clearance.
