We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at Rio Tinto's Weipa Operations in Far North Queensland. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and commitment to safety, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Job Description

This is a full-time role based in the beautiful coastal town of Weipa, with full relocation provided. You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and repairs on Light Vehicle Assets in our Lorim Point LV Workshop, while actively working to identify opportunities for improvement.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Performing scheduled servicing and maintenance tasks
  • Carrying out repairs and component rebuilds as required
  • Attending and retrieving breakdowns from the mine floor
  • Accurately maintaining detailed reports and associated paperwork
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid C class driver's license
  • An Auto Mechanic trade qualification or similar
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • The ability to communicate effectively within a team environment
  • Experience with SAP or similar work management system preferred
