The estimated salary for this position is $123,620 - $145,730 per annum, plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading (Pro Rata).

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for teaching and research in City Planning. You will have the opportunity to develop a teaching philosophy and critically reflective teaching practice that inspires student learning.

  • Coordinate and lead courses, tutorials, studio, field visits and/or other relevant classes in the discipline of city planning;
  • Contribute to the design and development of approaches to teaching and learning which prioritize Indigenous voices;
  • Help shape students who reflect and engage deeply with the process of unlearning and relearning (decolonising) and Indigenous Knowledge perspectives;
  • Develop cultural awareness and the integration of values of Country within city planning in meaningful and appropriate ways;
  • Develop a teaching philosophy and a critically reflective teaching practice that inspires student learning;
  • Contribute to the design and development of learning activities and resources, assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments;
  • Contribute to the design, development, review, and administration of curriculum, including academic quality assurance and engagement with professional accreditation/organisation bodies.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Masters degree in a related discipline, and/or relevant professional experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully teaching at a university level;
  • Evidence of and/or preparedness to undertake professional development of teaching practice;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Willingness and capacity to work effectively and sensitively with students, particularly on issues related to learning in individual and group situations and cross-cultural factors in the student experience;
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead by example in supporting equal opportunity and equity, diversity and inclusion as they relate to staff and students;
  • Willingness to cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.

If you hold a PhD in city planning or a closely related discipline, and/or relevant professional experience related to city planning, you may also be considered for Level C appointment.
