This role involves working as a Cyber Liability Underwriting Expert, responsible for underwriting all new and existing portfolio of business within set guidelines, authority levels, and service standards. The expert will be responsible for mentoring and developing junior underwriters and reporting to senior management.
Role Summary:
This role requires the individual to have extensive knowledge of cyber products and underwriting practices, as well as market dynamics. The expert will work closely with stakeholders to maximise underwriting opportunities, minimise expenses, and achieve operations and service targets.
Responsibilities:
- Underwrite within company policy limitations and underwriting standards.
- Maintain ongoing liaison with brokers to obtain supplemental underwriting information, evaluate risks, decline risks, analyse and interpret coverage, explain underwriting requirements, and present terms.
- Determine the desirability of accepting or rejecting business risks. Price exposures in accordance with filed and approved rate levels, discretionary pricing mechanisms, and business unit guidelines.
- Prepare reports on portfolio performance and maintain credit control of business within the portfolio.
- Participate in audits, Peer Review Process, and other compliance requirements.
- Evaluate cyber risk management controls and technical knowledge.
- Develop productive long-term relationships with external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience working in financial services, in a cyber underwriting position.
- Demonstrable ability to grow a profitable portfolio.
- Demonstrated competences in maintaining broker/client relationship.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritise while maintaining an attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of Australian insurance regulatory environment.
- Active market presence and strong negotiation skills.
