About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to support the development and drafting of Australian Standards and other documents across a wide range of subject areas.

This is a part-time role, working 3 days per week, and requires the ability to work closely with stakeholders to determine the clearest and most logical way to present technical content for greatest reader comprehension.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop content for draft Australian Standards and other documents across all project stages
  • Have accountability for the working draft
  • Develop drafts in consultation with technical experts
  • Interpret verbal and written technical content to draft in a way that is appropriate for the intended audience
  • Ensure that the structure, content, and language is in line with Standards Australia's Guides, Procedures, and House Style
  • Address any feedback provided by Standards Australia Publishing Services team
  • Lead the Drafting Team in the review and resolution of Public Comments on the working draft
  • Collaborate with committee members to facilitate discussions and manage technical issues
  • Work effectively with Standards Australia Project Managers and Publishing Services team to develop high-quality documents and escalate unresolved issues
  • Ensure projects are delivered within agreed timeframes and scope parameters as per Standards Australia's project management methodology
  • Develop the drafting schedule in consultation with the Project Manager and the Technical Writer
About You
  • University degree or other relevant qualification
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in technical writing
  • Ability to communicate information clearly, concisely, and accurately
  • Capacity to work cooperatively and collaboratively
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
