About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Associate to join our team at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Disability Innovation Institute. The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Jackie Leach Scully, Professor of Bioethics and Director of the Disability Innovation Institute, to contribute to the Disability Matters project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and develop methodologies to represent people with disability and their health priorities
  • Work with project partners and team members to recruit participants, obtain informed consent, and manage data collection and storage
  • Write and plan for ethical approval of all research work
  • Organise and carry out critical interdisciplinary literature reviews of research methods for disability and health
  • Develop and run online methodology workshops with disabled researchers to develop smart research practices
  • Collaborate closely with the international research team and experts
  • Manage and analyse qualitative data
  • Contribute to the development of a best practice portal and online handbook on co-producing health research
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant subject or equivalent working experience
  • Experience with qualitative research methods and data analysis
  • Ability to take responsibility for undertaking research and delivering defined outcomes
  • Experience with public engagement and dissemination in a range of formats
  • Experience working with people with disability or in a disability-focused representative organisation
  • Organisational skills, including project management and coordination
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to present research to academic and general audiences
