This is an exceptional opportunity to develop your writing skills while working closely with colleagues from various departments. Your key responsibility will be to draft high-quality speeches, articles, forewords, and video scripts that meet the highest standards.

The role requires you to work effectively with subject matter experts across the department, fact-check information, and coordinate clearances. You will also have primary responsibility for coordinating input, ensuring timely delivery of projects, and maintaining accurate records in line with APS accountability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and editing speeches, articles, forewords, and video scripts
  • Coordinating input, fact-checking, and clearance of material with subject matter experts
  • Providing expert advice to ministers and other stakeholders on matters relating to speeches and speech products
  • Ensuring robust record keeping and fulfilling reporting requirements
  • Maintaining an active interest in current affairs and public policy debates to inform speech development

Requirements:

  • Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to produce high-quality written products
  • Desirable: experience in media engagement or public relations

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship at the time of application
  • Completion of a relevant qualification such as a communication degree or diploma
  • Security clearance at Baseline Level
