EL2 Speechwriter | Tell Australia's Story to the World
Randstad is seeking a dynamic and effective communicator to lead a pivotal team within the Australian Federal Government. In this critical EL2 role, you will be instrumental in shaping Australia's narrative on the global stage, strategically and creatively finding the right words to communicate our purpose and policy to both domestic and international audiences. This is a unique opportunity to use your expertise to lead a high-performing team and make a real difference in how Australia is perceived by the world.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small, high-performing team to deliver timely and high-quality speeches and opinion pieces for a portfolio of ministers and senior executives.
• Collaborate effectively with ministerial offices and senior executives to develop and finalise speech content, ensuring strategic policy messaging is clear and impactful.
• Liaise with policy areas across the department and other government agencies to gather information and ensure accuracy.
• Contribute to broader strategic media and communications efforts, including training and capacity building.
• Set clear priorities and manage resources to complete projects and assignments that meet briefs and strategic objectives.

Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated ability to interpret and explain complex concepts in interesting and accessible ways.
• A proven flair for the spoken word and the ability to craft persuasive, compelling narratives for a broad audience.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with a focus on producing high-quality work under tight deadlines.
• A broad knowledge of foreign, trade, and development policy issues is essential.
• An ability to prioritise and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Australian citizens and must possess a valid NV1 Government security clearance.
