Policy Officer - Stakeholder Engagement and Governance

The ACT Government's Policy Branch, Work Safety Group, is seeking a highly skilled Policy Officer to join their Stakeholder Engagement and Governance team. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in leading engagement with employer and employee representative stakeholders on issues related to work health and safety, workers' compensation, and industrial relations regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide secretariat support for relevant committees and other local, national, and inter-jurisdictional fora
  • Liaise with stakeholders and clients, both internal and external to the ACT Government, and build productive working relationships
  • Represent the ACT Government and the directorate as required
  • Provide advice on policy and program issues related to workplace health, safety, workers' compensation, and/or industrial relations
  • Undertake research and analysis to assist with the review, improvement, and development of policy and legislation
  • Support the development and implementation of multiple key projects for the Group
  • Draft ministerial reports, briefs, submissions, and other complex documents for the Government, Ministers, and the Directorate
Requirements:
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work with people across different levels
  • Collaborative team player and able to work autonomously
  • Organised and solutions-focused
  • Understanding and work within the ACTPS Code of Conduct and ACTPS values of respect, integrity, collaboration, and innovation, and model behaviour consistent with the ACTPS Respect Equity and Diversity framework
Eligibility/Other Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in law, workers' compensation, work health and safety policy, and public policy is highly desirable
  • Coordination and secretariat experience
