The Department of Ophthalmology at Westmead Hospital is seeking an experienced and skilled medical practitioner to lead our multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality patient care services.

As the Ophthalmology Clinics Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our outpatient clinics, ensuring that patients receive timely and effective treatment. You will work closely with a team of medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and allied health staff, to provide comprehensive care to patients with acute, chronic, and emergency eye conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the delivery of ophthalmic surgical services and community-based chronic care management programs
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and registrars in ophthalmology and glaucoma surgery
• Develop and implement quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and best practices
• Foster strong relationships with general practitioners, optometrists, and private ophthalmologists to promote collaboration and referral pathways

Requirements:
• Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) or equivalent
• Demonstrated expertise in ophthalmology and glaucoma surgery, with a strong track record of clinical excellence
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and empower teams to achieve outstanding results
• Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to supporting basic, applied, or clinical research within the department
