Driver Trainer Role

This role provides specialized training, assessment, and coaching for Toll drivers in all relevant aspects of their duties, including induction, legislative requirements, and Toll Group procedures. The Driver Trainer implements the business driver training strategy, focusing on risk, quality, HSE, and human resource management systems. Continuous improvement is essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs to support Toll's driver training initiatives, including group and one-on-one sessions.
  • Evaluate driver competencies during pre-employment checks and reassess current drivers to meet business requirements and standards.
  • Counsel drivers on safe and effective work processes and ensure compliance with company procedures and legislation.
  • Collaborate with Training Managers to plan and coordinate training requirements and activities.
  • Support the development of quality driver training materials aligned with learning methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements, maintaining records of driver training and assessments.

Requirements

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Workplace Training and Assessment
  • Heavy Vehicle Driver's License (Prefer MC)
  • DG License and SLP preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Knowledge of HV mass management, fatigue management, dangerous goods, load restraint, road transport rules, and regulations
  • Experience as a skilled and competent driver/MHE operator and trainer/assessor
  • A 'can-do' approach to driver safety, coaching, and risk reduction
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to review training and assessment effectiveness and recommend continuous improvement
